Culture and History 2

For Culture and History 2, we continued from the previous semester on the ancient buildings and this semester we were given an even better understanding of a building's contents. We were taught on the architects and the works that they have done but the highlights of this is the style and method of which were used by them. By understanding those, we can incorporate them into our designs for the future.

Project 1 - Precedent Studies

We were told to form a group of 5 and choose 1 architect from a list given. Then, we must propose 3 buildings by the architect, which will be finalized upon discussion with the tutors and conduct architectural analysis on the selected building. This project has helped me to increase my understanding on the principle, ideas and contributing factors of the architecture of Modern Masters. I have also gained the ability to analyse and identify specific architectural features in terms of space planning, technology, details, form and the aesthetics of the architecture of Modern Masters. Lastly, I can now create understanding in your audience visually by composing factual information and descriptive sketches on a presentation board.

Project 2 - Web Book

In the same group as the prievious project, we are to conduct a research to document the architecture on a selected building. Students are responsible to ensure that the building is in a good shape and easily accessible. We have decided to make our building the Central Market as it is a public area and has a lot of modern values. This second project helps us to increase understanding on the principle, ideas and contributing factors of Modern Architecture in Klang Valley. By doing so, we have to analyse and identify specific architectural features of Modern Architecture in Klang Valley. The project itself helps us to document architectural heritage in the form of writings, descriptive diagrams and photography. Lastly, we can create a web book as a mean to publish academic materials.

Below is the access to my group's web book:
