Building Construction 1
Building Construction 1 is the new subject which we are taught the in-depth of a building's material and how it is constructed. By learning its' materiality and the construction method, we are able to construct our ideas in a more rational way where the ideas are actually buildable.
Assignment 1: Experiencing Construction - Experiencing, documentation and analysing construction process.
We were told to select ongoing construction site which visibly covers most of subject topics covered in the syllabus. Our selected sites should be medium rise or low rise buildings eg. bungalow, terrace houses or maximum 4-storey building. We have to identify different types of building elements and its construction process, details and materials. With that, I can study and record construction of different building elements. In specific, I must show and apply my knowledge in the details of the building construction drawings that i will provide to reflect my understanding of the construction itself.
Below are the specifics which we need to document down :
Document (Visual images, Annotated Sketches and drawings)
• Construction process, methods, material, site context
• Documentation should be in the form of pictures, sketches, drawings and written
Analyse and Explain
• Specification of material used in construction
• Dimensions and sizes of components
• Standards of descriptions
• Procedures of constructing the components
• Construction response to site context (environmental issues related to sustainable development)
My given part is about the roofing on the sites we were going to. We went to Bukit Serdang, Semenyih and ECO WORLD. However, only one of the site has the roofing which i need but the information i can gather there is enough though i cannot differentiate it anymore.

Assignment 2: Construction Detail and Specification
This assignment focuses on the demonstration of knowledge that I have acquired earlier on. This second assignment emphasizes on proposing details for certain section of a building, both structural and architectural detailing. In our case, we are using our Studio 2 final project as the building. We must identify and propose 3 numbers of details for selected element or part of the building apart from providing the necessary plans, section and elevations. All the drawings must be hand-drawn. The aim of this project is to help us select suitable structural elements and apply it properly.
